Welcome
to Tauranga
Tauranga is situated
in the Bay of Plenty. This is on the north eastern coast of the north
island and was named by Captain Cook.
Tauranga is a coastal
city and is both a tourist focal point and an important commercial center
for New Zealand. It is severed by a busy port at nearby Mount Maunganui.
Why not climb Mount
Maunganui? Reaching the top gives brilliant views of Tauranga and the surrounding
area. For those who do not fancy the climb can laze on the beach
or swim in the hot saltwater pools near the foot of the hill.
Amongst the leading
attractions in Tauranga are the Tauranga Historic Village, giving the pioneer
history of the area, and The Elms Mission House. Tauranga also has
one of New Zealand's finest surfing beaches.
